Oil and water -
Date - 21st June
The equipment I used was a macro lens, which was positioned on a tripod at a short distance away from the subject. I used a few pieces of patterned material for the backdrop, with a glass pane resting over the top. I then put some oil droplets on the glass and added water with a pipette, which makes it separate. I tried to make each photo different by using different backgrounds and adding more oil/water to get a variety of photos.
WWW- The tripod that I used made the focus steadier, and the variety of styles was good. However to make the shoot better I should do it in a studio with more light so that it is consistent, and all the pictures will be brighter.
Ink -
Location - Studio
This shoot was a short shoot so there were not very many photos to select. I used black ink in a small aquarium, the ink was dropped into the tank with a pipette, I used a fast shutter speed and a few lights surrounding the subject.
WWW - The studio and the lights produced a lot of light which made the pictures bright and clear, however to improve I would add more colours, or add new items such as dice or do this shoot using fizzy water, which would create bubbles. These improvements would make the shoot more successful.
Other
These shoots were created over the holiday, and my most successful pictures were the kitchen equipment photographs. I recreated a low key set up using a black background and little lighting. In one of the photos I used a torchlight so that the light was specific and aimed at the center of the shot. For these photographs I used a macro lens and a tripod, and for the other photographs I used another type of close up lens, which allowed the camera to get closer to the subject.
WWW- I think that the low key set up was a good idea, rather than having natural lighting.
EBI- It would be better if there was a range of objects, however the photos that weren't included were unclear.
Food
Date - 11th July
This shoot shows close ups of food, mainly vegetables. Some of the photos are clear to see such as the peppers, however other photos such as the broccoli may not be apparent.
WWW- The focus in all of these photographs was clear, however the range of subjects was not big enough so to improve I would explore more and use different items of food.
